Renting a Portable Pocket Wifi Device in Europe
So you know, this post contains helpful affiliate and 100% of my own experience!
In March, I went to Ireland, Germany, Spain, France and Italy. I didn’t want to deal with the expensive cost of extra data and minutes on my current phone plan nor get a different SIM card for each country I went to. I wanted something seamless and simple so I partnered up with Hip Pocket Wifi to put their pocket wifi device to the test and see how easy it was to stay connected throughout Europe.
Hotel or Home Delivery at the Beginning of Your Trip
The first of my five country adventure in March was Ireland. A couple of days before I left, I got a padded package in the mail with the Hip Pocket Wifi device, a sleek case to carry it on my journey, a cable to charge it, and best of all, this prepaid envelope so I could mail it back at the end of my trip. Isn’t that convenient?
The delivery options are really easy. You can pre-order it online before your trip and have it delivered to you anywhere in Europe, USA and Canada. This means you can have it delivered to your hotel, but if you want it the second you get off the plane so you can get directions to your hotel with ease, then it’s best to deliver it to your house even before your trip starts.
Unlimited Data in Ireland, Germany, Spain, France and Italy
Once you have your wifi device, actually getting wifi is simple. Just turn it on, then connect to it like you would any wifi network! The password and network name is right on the device. You and anyone else connected to the device will get unlimited wifi wherever you are even when you’re crossing borders country to country.
As much as I love using Google Maps without data or wifi, having wifi wherever I went was so much easier than having to keep my phone on airplane mode or monitoring my data usage! Anything that makes traveling a bit more hassle-free is a huge bonus.
Four Devices Connected At Once
When I was traveling with my husband, we sometimes had four devices connected to the Hip Pocket Wifi device at once. After we connected his PC for work, my Macbook Pro and both of our iPhones, the wifi stayed strong. This was awesome at various airports and our townhouse in Pigna because the wifi at those places were really weak or insecure.
If you traveling with a group of 10, you can actually connect all your phones to the Hip Pocket Wifi because it connects up to 10 devices at once, which makes the €4,90 to €11,90 cost a day much more justifiable.
Great Customer Service
There was one time in Spain where my wifi device wasn’t connecting properly so I enjoyed a wifi-free day and emailed them when I got back to my hotel. They responded quickly and sent a helpful PDF to solve the issue immediately. I loved that their 24/7 customer service knew exactly what the problem was so I didn’t have to waste any of my vacation time going back and forth trying to figure out what was wrong. It was very efficient!
